Why counselling in nature?

Nature helps us to feel more relaxed, emotionally regulated and connected

Offering  a unique experience, rooted in the natural environment, outdoor counselling offers the supportive and therapeutic benefits of counselling whilst tapping into the healing, nurturing energies of nature.

Challenges are a natural part of life’s’ journey. From time to time the complex and messy ecology of being human puts a strain on our emotions, our mental health and wellbeing.

From the small to the big, when faced with adversity, we often find ourselves stressed, confused, disconnected and in survival mode to varying degrees.

At such times we can forget that we are part nature and not separate from it. Deep inside we know this, and so it follows, that when when we connect to nature, we can connect back into ourselves and life.

Come for a wandaa...

What is Wandaa Counselling in Nature?

Wandaa Counselling in nature is a blend of traditional talk-therapy combined with elements of nature/eco therapy.

Rather than in the confines of the traditional setting we meet for counselling in the outdoors, in specially chosen places.

Once there we invite nature to be a part of the process. Whilst I make suggestions for activities, ultimately you decide how we spend our time together.

The experience is a slow, gentle exploration that is affirming, reconnecting and supportive of the positive changes you want to make in your life.

Who am I?

Hello, I'm Ewan and I'm passionate about bringing the benefits of counselling in nature to others.

Over many years, I've gained a wide variety of experiences across such areas as adult disability, men's health, youth wellbeing rites of passage, adventure therapy, creative writing, spirituality, community and family.

Nature has always played a huge role in keeping me grounded and allowing me to slow down and 'smell the roses' so to speak. Living in such a busy and fast-paced world, I aim to get out in nature as often as I can, so I can remain clear of mind and focused on making sure that the life I live continues to align with my own personal values and beliefs, and the person I want to be.

My commitment to you

Counselling in nature is more than just going for a walk. I will be there beside you every step of the way, offering a calm and relaxed space for you to express yourself and begin to understand your inner-needs more clearly.

As part of this, my commitment to you is to:

Be present, empathetic and listen without judgement.

Facilitate a nurturing space which supports you to safely explore the challenges you are facing.

Guide, where appropriate, a deeper connection to nature.

Uphold confidentiality and respect for your values and choices.

Acknowledgment of Country

"I acknowledge Country, its lands, skies and waters and everything within them.

Without them our lives would not be possible.

I acknowledge the Kaurna-Meyunna, their elders past, present and emerging.

They were the original custodians. We are all custodians now. May we become the elders we need."
